I am also qualified in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), which uses the energy channels in a different way to release old deep-seated emotional blocks.
When you arrive at “Koh-I-noor House’ you will find ample parking space on the driveway and a warm welcome!
Acupuncture is used alongside conventional medicine in the treatment of acute and chronic disease. It can also be used as a preventive measure to strengthen your constitution or because you feel unwell in yourself, without being ‘ill’ in the Western sense.
What Happens At Your First Visit?
This session will be longer that subsequent ones. I will be asking you about your current symptoms and treatments you have received so far, your medical history and that of your close family, your diet, digestion, sleeping patterns and emotional state.
To find out how the energy is flowing in your meridians or energy channels, I will feel your pulses of both wrists, noting their quality, rhythm and strength. I may also use other methods of diagnosis such as looking at the colour, structure and coating of your tongue which gives a good indication of your physical health.
This will enable me to determine the likely causes of your problems and the most appropriate treatment for you.
As well as needles, I may supplement treatment with moxa, which is a smouldering herb used to warm the acupuncture points to encourage the body’s energy to flow smoothly. (Everyone loves the smell of this!)
Generally acupuncture treatment is weekly becoming less frequent as symptoms improve. Sometimes change is dramatic requiring only two or three visits. Other times, the effects are more subtle and require treatment over several months.
You will find that acupuncture is a safe treatment for everyone. Here are just a few of the conditions for which it is regularly used:
- Anxiety and stress, fears and depression
- Arthritis
- Asthma
- Back pain
- Circulatory problems
- Facial paralysis
- Fibrositis
- High blood pressure
- Indeterminate aches and pains
- Infertility
- Menstrual problems
- Migraines
- Rheumatism
- Sciatica
- Skin conditions
- Ulcers
- Weight loss and digestive disorders
If you don’t find your particular problem listed above, I have more than likely treated over the years.
